our mission

The mission of the getavision programs is to inspire and motivate people living with health & financial challenges, their caregivers, family and friends with a passion and purpose for living through use of media, events, programs, projects, and interpersonal interaction, empowering them with tools and resources to help fulfill their hopes and dreams.

The getavision programs address an outstanding need to minimize psychosocial distress for those living with, through, and beyond cancer, HIV/AIDS and other critical health conditions. The getavision programs encourage participation of people with all sorts of afflictions, regarless of physical location or place in life.

We seek to take our participants beyond medical problems, treatment and other related issues to create a positive, challenging environment and services through which people can look beyond self-interests and invest their time and thoughts in "labors of love." We call these "labors of love" the things we do through our getavision timexchange and in other activities in which people come together to create new challenging, motivating and achievable adventures in living.

get a vision, share it with others and make it real.

our vision: make the shift
> from fear to power thru love

Stimulate people to get a vision and purpose for their lives.

Give them the tools and capabilities to share that vision and pursue the sorts of dreams that can make a positive impact on the world around them.

Create a positive environment to bring those visions to fruition.

Inspire and motivate people to beoptimistic, find a challenge and purpose, and provide a means to help fulfill that vision.

Be an innovator & creative force to stimulate a way of thinking and a way of life.

Provide an innovative approach to fill a gap in available resources for our target population.

Establish an innovative funding project as the cornerstone of our getavisionFUND program.

challenge
Particularly for people with life-threatening illnesses, the will to fight on, live and thrive is impacted by a sense of hopelessness and helplessness against both surmounting personal and external challenges. The getavision project is an innovative effort that we hope will become a significant compliment to currently existing medical care, networking and support groups, workshops, education, other social activities and support that people living with critical health issues may be involved in directly related to their physical condition.

issues
The getavision programs seek to minimize psychosocial distress for those living with, through, and beyond cancer, HIV/AIDS and other critical health conditions confronting:

* Depression / Hopelessness / Lack of Purpose
* Desperation / Physical Isolation
* Negative self-image
* Stress of increased focus on one's self and personal problems
* Loss of friends & personal support system
* Financial crises with mounting medical bills
* Loss of energy and physical stamina
* Disorientation with being disabled
* Saturation of negative media (ie, watching too much negative news coverage and dramatic film and television programs)

outcome
Medical professionals clearly know that one's ability to overcome a serious health condition goes well beyond traditional and alternative medicines, nutrition and physical exercise, and that one's state of mind and will to live may contribute to 20% or higher survival rates.

Through the getavision programs we hope to:
Improve Quality of Life
Decrease Mortality Rate
Lower Healthcare Costs (by elevating a person's disposition)
