our mission
The mission of the getavision programs is to inspire and motivate people living with health challenges, their caregivers, family and friends with a passion and purpose for living through use of media, events, programs, projects, and interpersonal interaction, empowering them with tools and resources to help fulfill their hopes and dreams.
The getavision programs address an outstanding need to minimize psychosocial distress for those living with, through, and beyond cancer, HIV/AIDS and other critical health conditions. The getavision programs encourage participation of people with all sorts of afflictions, regarless of physical location or place in life.
Our target population is comprehensive as we seek to cultivate a group of people we call "health challenged." We define "health challenged" in the same way that the National Cancer Institute (NCI) has defined the term "survivor," in which they have defined an individual who has been diagnosed (in NCI's case, with cancer) and including the caregivers, friends, and family members.
Therefore, the getavision programs define "health challenged" as those people diagnosed and living with critical health conditions and their caregivers, friends and family members, seeking new experiences and fulfillment on the road of life.
We seek to take our participants beyond medical problems, treatment and other related issues to create a positive, challenging environment and services through which people can look beyond self-interests and invest their time and thoughts in "labors of love." We call these "labors of love" the things we do through our Family Exchange and in other activities in which people come together to create new challenging, motivating and achievable adventures in living.
get a vision, share it with others and make it real.
