getavision celebrated LIVESTRONG DAY with events in Palm Springs, including the 2010 STAR RIDE motorcycle ride, a tribute presentation to actress & ovarian cancer survivor Carol Channing at the Palm Springs Walk of Stars event, and a day-long music event at the Ace Hotel Palm Springs, including 2010 Malibu Music Award Grand Prize winning group MOI and LA's Los Despiertos, sponsored by Monster Energy Drinks and ONE Natural Experience.

Southern California STAR RIDE  

Launching the LA to PALM SPRINGS STAR RIDE  from The Abbey in West Hollywood on Saturday morning, October 2, riders meetup and headout historic Route 66 to the Sunset Strip and past the Hollywood Walk of Fame through the Southern California Wine Country and on into Palm Springs Ace Hotel & Swim Club.   SAN DIEGO to PALM SPRINGS STAR RIDER heads out from Hillcrest through the Wine Country and meets up at the Ace Hotel & Swim Club for an afternoon of entertainment, fun and swimming with LIVE music & more.

Riding for a Star
In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, each rider will be riding in the name of a star on the Walk of Fame or another favorite star they admire who has either died from or is living with cancer.  People not participating in the ride will be encouraged to donate to a star/rider, such as Farrah Fawcett, Patrick Swayze, Elizabeth Taylor, or others.

The LIVESTRONG DAY 2010 SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA STAR RIDE is coordinated by the Society of Riders, with registration organized and managed by the Dykes on Bikes San Diego Chapter.

STAR RIDE 2010

The Southern California STAR RIDE 2010 launches from The Abbey in West Hollywood, California.

The first multi-city motorcycle ride to celebrate LIVESTRONG DAY is attracting riders, celebrities and cancer survivors in the global battle against cancer with a series of STAR RIDE 2010 events slated for Southern California and Atlanta, along with other participants in cities, towns and villages around the world.  The Southern California STAR RIDE will be originating in Los Angeles, Long Beach, Orange County and San Diego heading to Palm Springs in the California desert.

Launching from The Abbey along historic Route 66 and down the Sunset Strip, the riders will travel down Sunset Boulevard and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, continuing past the major Los Angeles Medical Centers, through the Silver Lake community.   Heading south through the Southern California Wine Country, LA riders will meetup with  San Diego in Temecula to follow into Palm Springs for LIVE entertainment, great food and fun at the Ace Hotel & Swim Club.
